Gin & Grapefruit Fitzgerald

Gin & Grapefruit Fitzgerald
Serves 20 (in 10-ounce rocks glasses, filled halfway with ice)

 2 Β½ cups simple syrup
2 Β½ cups lemon juice
10 cups gin (I love New Holland Grapefruit Knickerbocker)
ΒΌ cup Angostura Bitters

For the simple syrup:
2 cups sugar
3 cups water

  1. In a small saucepan, over low heat, combine sugar and water. Bring this mixture to a boil, then turn down heat. Simmer for 5 minutes on low, then cool for 5 minutes.

  2. Combine simple syrup, lemon juice, and gin in a one-gallon container.

  3. Right before serving, add bitters and give the cocktail a good stir. Serve with bitters on the side so guests can add more if they prefer. This drink would be great with a shaker on the side so that guests can use the shaker and then serve the cocktail without ice. SO GOOD!
