Liquid French Toast

Social media and what we think about it seem to raise everyone's blood pressure. I feel differently about it on different days, but mostly I like it. In small doses, it connects people; at its most honest, it makes people feel less alone; and for me, with Lark, it connects me to people who like good cocktails and a mostly-healthy lifestyle. I LOVE interacting with followers, and that was true in naming this drink. I didn't know how to name it. (I usually don’t.) Based on the flavors involved, people gave me great suggestions: PEARfectly Spiced, the Pear-tini, and the one I liked the most . . . Liquid French Toast!

Liquid French Toast
Serves 2 (in a 10-ounce rocks glass filled halfway with ice)

 Β½ cup pear vodka
4 tablespoons pear nectar (strained through a mesh sieve)
2 tablespoons vanilla vodka
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 cup club soda
2 tablespoons white sugar
Β½ teaspoon cinnamon
Β½ teaspoon ginger or ground cardamom

  1. Combine pear and vanilla vodkas, strained pear nectar, lemon juice, and club soda into a small pitcher or glass measuring cup. Stir to combine.

  2. On a saucer or small plate, combine sugar, cinnamon, and ginger/cardamom. Wet rim and then dip glass in sugar + spice mixture.

  3. Fill glass with ice and pour the cocktail into the glass.
